GPT-6 brings interactive answers to ChatGPT: check the tab, plan and workspace

OpenAI is rolling out GPT-6 and Intelligent UI in Chat. Check the account plan, surface, model and workspace controls before treating one interactive answer as universal availability or verified fact.

Three unbranded zones show an interactive conversation, account and workspace checks, and a separate coding workbench.
Chat response format, account and workspace access, and separate work tools are distinct checks. This conceptual illustration does not show a tested GPT-6 interface.

The three zones show why a visible response format, an account or workspace entitlement, and separate Work or Codex tools require separate evidence.

OpenAI says GPT-6 is rolling out in ChatGPT with Intelligent UI, a response format that can combine prose, visuals and interactive controls inside a conversation. The October 7 announcement starts the rollout for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise in the Chat tab, with Free and Go following on October 8. Enterprise access depends on workspace administration. These are OpenAI's release statements, not observations from an Inquory account. OpenAI's GPT-6 announcement

The practical reader question is narrower than “Do I have GPT-6?” Check the surface, plan, model family and workspace controls that apply to the conversation in front of you. A response that contains a chart or control is evidence about that response. It does not prove that the same format is available in Work, Codex, Voice, another account or every future answer.

Start with the surface, not the model name

OpenAI describes Intelligent UI as a Chat feature. The announcement explicitly says the models powering Work and Codex are unchanged by this release. Its help article also says Intelligent UI is unavailable in the Work tab and Voice. That boundary matters because the same account can expose several surfaces whose names and model choices are easy to blur together. Intelligent UI help

Inquory analysis: record the tab or product before comparing results. “Chat showed an interactive checklist” is a bounded observation. “GPT-6 changed all my OpenAI tools” is a broader claim that the release sources do not support.

The release notes add another model boundary. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise use GPT-6 Sol for this Chat rollout, while Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna. The Pro reasoning option continues to use GPT-6 Astra and does not support Intelligent UI. Intelligent UI can appear from Instant through Extra High reasoning, but the exact layout can vary and a plain text response can still be the chosen format. ChatGPT release notes

A rollout date is a starting point, not an account receipt

The announcement says the rollout is global. It does not provide a Canada-specific price, guarantee that every eligible Canadian account receives the feature at the same moment, or override an organization's workspace controls. Inquory has not verified availability on a Canadian account.

For managed workspaces, an administrator setting may be part of the answer. For an individual account, the useful evidence is the plan shown by the account and the surface where the conversation occurs. Buying or changing a subscription solely to resolve an uncertain rollout is unnecessary; check the account's current controls and official notices first.

Evidence to retain before comparing an interactive response
CheckWhat to recordWhat it can resolve
SurfaceChat, Work, Codex or VoiceWhether the release applies to the place being used
PlanThe plan shown in account settingsWhich announced model family and rollout window may apply
WorkspacePersonal or managed, plus relevant admin availabilityWhether organization controls may affect access
Model and modeThe displayed model or reasoning choiceWhether a different option explains the response format
Observed responsePlain text, chart, form, checklist or another controlWhat this one conversation actually displayed
State after refreshWhich selections or progress remainWhether a component retained state in this thread
UnknownsMissing labels, gradual rollout or unclear policyWhich conclusion should remain open

OpenAI's help article says some components, such as checklists, can keep their state after a thread refresh, while state does not carry across chat threads. It also provides a simpler response-style setting, though some visual or interactive elements may still appear. Those details make a small thread-specific record more useful than an assumption about every conversation.

Presentation does not settle the answer's accuracy

Intelligent UI changes how an answer can be organized. A chart, calculator or tappable control can make an explanation easier to explore, but its polished presentation is not independent support for the underlying facts, quantities or recommendation.

Inquory analysis: verify consequential inputs and conclusions the same way you would in a text response. For a calculator, inspect the assumptions and units. For a comparison, check whether the choices and exclusions match the question. For a chart, find the source and confirm what the axes represent. If an answer will guide health, legal, financial, security or other high-impact action, use appropriate qualified sources and review.

OpenAI published a separate October model safety report. It describes internal evaluations, model-level and system-level safeguards, areas of improvement and areas where some evaluated results regressed. The report cautions that difficult evaluation sets are not estimates of ordinary production frequency. It is useful release evidence, but it is not an independent test of a particular answer or interactive component. GPT-6 October safety report

Fictional example: one account, two surfaces

Maya is a fictional Toronto project coordinator. Her personal Plus account shows an interactive planning response in Chat. Her managed workspace opens to Work, where the same prompt produces a different format.

She records the account, surface, displayed model and response type separately. She does not conclude that one account is broken, change the organization's settings or treat the interactive plan as validated project data. She checks the release notes, asks the workspace administrator about applicable controls and verifies the dates in the plan before using it.

The example does not demonstrate an actual Canadian rollout, a Business or Enterprise configuration, or a performance result. It shows how a surface boundary changes the next useful check.

What remains unverified

All four sources are OpenAI publications. They establish OpenAI's announcement, documentation and internal evaluation account. They do not independently verify availability, reliability, accuracy, accessibility or user outcomes for a specific account. Inquory has not tested the feature on web, mobile, a managed workspace or a Canadian plan.

A useful follow-up would document the exact account surface and model label, preserve the prompt and relevant settings, and evaluate whether a component remains usable with keyboard navigation, zoom, reduced motion and a narrow screen. Any result should remain tied to that observed configuration and date.
